Amy – Owner, Physical Therapist
I graduated from UW-Madison with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology- Exercise Science (2004), and then continued my education at UW-Madison, and received my Master of Physical Therapy degree (2006). I subsequently graduated in 2011 with a post-professional Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from the University of New England.
I have spent several years practicing physical therapy at UW Hospital and Clinics, in the Sports Medicine department, where I underwent extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries, as well as specialized training for direct access physical therapy in an academic institution. I specialize in treatment of athletes with lower-extremity injuries related to running, including video analysis of running mechanics. I have presented on the topic of running-related injuries, biomechanics, and footware in a multitude of settings, and developed curriculum as well as served in a mentor role regarding running analysis for physical therapy residents. I was the lead author of an article titled “Influence of Stride Frequency and Length on Running Mechanics: A Systematic Review” which was published in the May/June 2014 Sports Health journal, as well as “Exertional Compartment Syndrome: Review of the Literature and Proposed Rehabilitation Guidelines Following Surgical Release” which was published in the June 2011 International Journal of Sports Physical Therapy.
After having two children of my own, I became increasingly interested and involved in helping women who aspire to be active. I also have a personal history of a significant knee injury involving multiple surgeries, and can relate to those with a similar history who wish to continue to be active throughout their lifespan.
I am a member of the Wisconsin Physical Therapy Association as well as the American Physical Therapy Association. I am licensed in the State of Wisconsin for physical therapy and CPR certified.
My intent is for BodyFit Solutions to be a venue where continuity can exist between personal training and physical therapy. My goal is to create an atmosphere where women feel empowered to be active, healthy, and injury free!
